“Be Our Guest”: Creating Immersive Guest Experiences in Libraries
Saturday, June 25, 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.
Orange County Convention Center, W110B.
You’re invited to the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) President’s Program. Dave Cobb, ThinkWell Group, will share his insights on how libraries can tell stories with space and create an emotional resonance for library patrons–drawing on examples from the library world, as well as local Orlando theme parks.
Mr. Cobb, Vice President, Creative Development of the Thinkwell Group, is an expert on designing immersive educational experiences for museums and theme parks. He’ll talk about how libraries can tell stories with space and create an emotional resonance for library patrons–drawing on examples from the library world, as well as local Orlando theme parks. The session will also feature two expert responders from the library world, John Blyberg, Assistant Director for Innovation and UX at the Darien Library; and Steven Bell, Associate University Librarian for Research & Instructional Services at Temple University.
“We are very excited to have Dave Cobb as our speaker for the 2016 RUSA President’s Program. We think the guest experience theme–which incorporates technology, interactivity, and theatricality in engaging and exciting library users– will resonate with librarians in all types of libraries,” said RUSA President, Anne Houston. “We’re also thrilled that John Blyberg and Steven Bell can join us to talk about how guest experience resonates with them in their libraries.”
