Over 150 people logged in on October 7 to hear Michael Leach present the webinar Visual Design: Theory & Best Practices for Library Websites. Michael covered general principles, fonts, colors, and images while providing examples from existing library websites.
Highlights from the webinar included a lively discussion between participants as they answered each other’s questions on everything from website accessibility, to the pros and cons of putting a global search box on your website, to the best way to gather use statistics. It was a great example of peer-to-peer learning.
If you want to learn more about web design in general, WebJunction offers a series of courses on general web design principles as well as on specific applications.
Join the post-webinar discussion and contribute your own ideas of best practices for visual design of library websites.
On October 9, a smaller, but just as engaged group, attended the first of a two-part Rural Webinar series Two Goal Posts: Library and Community. Frequent BlogJunction guest blogger Ellen Miller and Jim Connor discussed the role of trustees in the library community. A great Q & A session happened throughout the webinar.
